I’ve been home all day. Haven’t left the house. Partly due to exhaustion and partly due to the random stomach ache that’s been attacking me on and off for the past couple of days. I’m hoping it’s not stress related but that honestly wouldn’t surprise me. After the 3 nights I spent in Toledo last week, I’m surprised I’m fairing as well as I am. I left Toledo Saturday morning with a sense of rushed urgency….almost wanting to run….to leave before anything else could happen. I came back to my small but warm cozy room in Madrid with the need for legit R&R. and to hide.
Other than the 4 private classes i taught this week, I really don’t have too much to say for myself. I think it’s a “processing” week i guess. Taking time to either a)try to ignore important subjects or b)face them. Or both? My school still hasn’t emailed me my new schedule for the semester so I’ve had an extra week of vacation. I was at first a little disappointed by this news b/c i kind of wanted to get back into a routine…but perhaps it’s for the best. I guess God wants me to ease my way back.
In other Christmas news, I won the prize at a tacky Christmas sweater party. I shared the prize with another girl I went with…it was a hands down win due to the fact that we were the ONLY two people who actually participated in the dressing up part. I wore a Santa Claus dress that I danced in with the English department last year. She pinned Christmas window decorations to her red cardigan and wore green leggings and striped socks. We were a sight to see.
I barely even made a dent in La Sombra del Viento…which, honestly, I’m truly disappointed in myself for considering I had more than enough time to read it. Reading in Spanish is work though. I love it, but honestly, i can’t skim through the pages like I can in English.
In musical news, everyone should check out this amazing artist from Toledo (lead singer from the previous band The Sunday Drivers) http://jeroromero.com/
